In der amerikanischen Hauptstadt sieht es schon ganz anders aus. Hier ist alles f\u00fcr den amerikanischen Geschmack ge\u00e4ndert. Das heisst, alle Gerichte sind umfangreich und wenn gekocht, dann in der Regel viel zu lange gegart. Geschmacklich ist alles auf Sahne basiert, es soll &#8222;rich&#8220; schmecken. Was ich mit &#8222;umfangreich&#8220; meine: Es gibt z.B. kaum einen gemischten Salat. Er hat immer Huhn oder Shrimps oder sogar Erdbeeren. Dazu kommen gewaltige Dressings und fettige Croutons und am Ende noch ein Kilo billiger (Analog?)K\u00e4se. So kann man dann die Preise hochtreiben. Und die Kalorien.<br \/>\nEin wichtiger Trend sind hier Hamburger. Diese sind nicht mehr Br\u00f6tchen mit Hack, Tomate, Gurke, Salat und Zwiebeln, sondern haben <!--more-->Fantasienamen wie &#8222;Texas&#8220; mit s\u00fcss geschmorten Zwiebeln, s\u00fcss-schmieriger BBQ Sauce und soweit. Schnell mal den Kaloriengehalt verdoppelt. Salate sind &#8222;Designed&#8220; und &#8222;handtossed&#8220; (per Hand zusammengestellt?).<\/p>\n<p>Es gibt auch keinen verl\u00e4sslich Restaurantf\u00fchrer wie GM oder Michelin. Zagat oder Frommers sind von Verbrauchern geschrieben und wenig verl\u00e4sslich. Selbst die Washington Post bedient den hiesigen Geschmack.<\/p>\n<p>Wir waren zuerst in der renommierte <a title=\"Brasesserie Beck, Richard Widmaier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beckdc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brasserie Beck<\/a>, des Belgiers Robert Wiedmaier, der in Deutschland aufwuchs. Austern waren okay, die &#8222;Moules avec frites&#8220; (Muscheln in Weissweinsauce mit Pommes) waren komplett zerkocht. &#8222;Soft and tender&#8220;, so mag es der amerikanische Gast! Die Muscheln schmeckten wie P\u00fcrree. Sie schwammen in einer Pfanne, in der neben Weisswein noch ein Liter Sahne war \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\nFreundlicherweise durften wir die Muscheln zur\u00fcckgeben. Die Pommes waren okay. Dazu bekamen wir einen Salat. So waren wir zumindest nicht hungrig. Ein relativ teurer Reinfall.<\/p>\n<p>Am n\u00e4chsten Tag gingen wir in <a title=\"Shake Shack\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.10151612505578124.1073741849.168996673123&amp;type=3\" target=\"_blank\">Danny Meyers SHAKE SHACK<\/a>. Der Hauptgrund war anfangender Regen und Hunger und das Restaurant gerade gegen\u00fcber. Wie in NYC ist der Hamburger &#8211; wir hatten ihn ohne K\u00e4se mit Bacon und allen Gem\u00fcsen &#8211; gut, das Br\u00f6tchen ist nicht so lecker. Gut war der Fair Trade Kaffee Shake. Aber es ist doch kein wirkliches Essen.<\/p>\n<p>Heute waren wir in Columbia Heights und Google empfahl uns <a title=\"Room 11 - Washington DC\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20251114181854\/http:\/\/room11dc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Room 11<\/a>. Erstaunlich: Es war gut! Nicht \u00fcberragend, aber lecker und alles bestens. Gut gew\u00fcrzt! Nur ein wenig weit weg von Downtown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gourmet-report.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/IMAG2750.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
